Meeting Minutes, 12 October, 2004

Chairman Halsey Sprecher called the meeting to order at 8:00 pm. Supervisor Ron Lins made a motion to approve the agenda. John Lichtenheld seconded the motion. Motion passed.

The Clerk read the September minutes and Treasurers report which were approved as read.

First before the board was Hank and Johanna Greison requesting board approval for building a dairy operation on 40 acres of land they purchased off of County Highway O.

Before the board could discuss the Greison request, Dan Baum from Consumers Coop came to the meeting and couldn't stay long so the board heard his request first.

Dan requested approval for a building permit and a distance variance for a tower to be constructed off Highway 60 on the present Coop land. Ron Lins made a motion to approve both the building permit and the distance variance for the reconstruction of the tower. John Lichtenheld seconded the motion. Motion passed.

The board then returned to the Greison's who were requesting building permits for 2 homes and for the dairy operation buildings along with a driveway permit. Some local residents spoke to the board about concerns that might affect the area -

a. 2 homes on 40 acres

b. where all the manure would go

c. a large dairy on only 40 acres

d. increased truck traffic

e. odor

f. noise

John Lichtenheld made a motion to refer the request for 2 homes on 40 acres to the Towns LUC for review and to approve a permit for the driveway and a permit for the agriculture buildings. Ron Lins seconded the motion. Motion passed.

Next, Dennis Bender requested board approval for the first 3 lots for his Prairie View Estates development. John Lichtenheld made a motion to deny Mr. Benders request based on the fact that it is not consistent with the Towns Land Use Plan and Land Ordinances because the density of the proposed development jeopardizes the future health and welfare of the local residents and conflicts with adjacent agriculture use. Ron Lins seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Next, the Sauk Fire District requested the board’s approval for financial aid for a new expansion at the firehouse. Ron Lins made a motion to direct our representative to vote in favor of the expansion. John Lichtenheld seconded the motion. Motion passed unanimously.

Next, Ron Lins made a motion for the Town to pay for old uncollectible ambulance bills. John Lichtenheld seconded the motion. Motion passed.
